KIND’s mission is to do the kind thing for your body, kind for your taste buds, and kind for your world. Nutritionally-dense ingredients, with nothing artificial. KIND wanted to get their Dark Chocolate Nut protein bar into the hands of consumers to develop further brand awareness and drive trial through sampling. They were after a partner with a similar ethos to theirs, and Ovolo Hotels was the perfect fit.

Ovolo hotels are premium accommodation spaces that reflect the city they’re in, making each experience unique and full of joy for the customer. From the wifi to the mini bar, everything is included in the fare so that your stay is as seamless and enjoyable as possible.

Through the Brandcrush marketplace, KIND was able to sample across the 6 Ovolo hotels in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Canberra. The KIND bars were placed in the fridge & on the counter top in hotel rooms, offered as part of Ovolo’s “Loot Bags” - part of the perks of the stay!

The campaign was highly successful. KIND were able to leverage the existing reputation of Ovolo hotels to connect with a highly engaged consumer group, while Ovolo’s guests were delighted to receive a free sample of this delicious product.

Surprise samples of hard seltzer go down a treat

Good Tides is a new “hard seltzer” (alcoholic sparkling water) product from Asahi. As guilt-free as vodka soda, the beverage offers just the right amount of flavour with zero sugar and premium Vodka O vodka.  Inspired by the purity of the Australian cost and refreshing waves, Good Tides is designed to appeal to all, and did exactly that by driving trials through Brandcrush’s network of accommodation and food delivery partners.  Through their hypertargeted sampling campaign, Good Tides was able to target guests at popular accommodation spaces across VIC, NSW, QLD and the ACT, as well as food chain networks across the eastern seaboard.  The brand provided free samples of two flavours of the premium product (Lemon+Lime and Raspberry). The samples were placed in the rooms of accommodation spaces, ready for guests to consume as a gift upon arrival.  Samples were also given to food delivery and pick-up providers, who placed them into the delivery bags of Uber Eats, Deliveroo and Menulog for selected orders, where guests were treated with one of two flavours of the hard-seltzer.  The response to the campaign was overwhelmingly positive. Good Tides reached more than 5,000 happy consumers and built a lasting positive association with their targeted demographic.

Beauty, fashion and fun

Garnier, part of the international French cosmetics company, L’Oreal, is already known the world-over for their innovative skin and hair products. Looking to connect with their target market of young beauty lovers, the brand recognized a key opportunity to align with the fun and glamour of Melbourne’s iconic Spring Racing Carnival. Each year, the Spring Racing Carnival draws more than 100,000 people into Melbourne with a calendar of events, fashion, food and entertainment. Using Brandcrush’s innovative booking platform, Garnier was able to identify targetted accommodation and hospitality in and around the city through which they could offer a selection of their products to racegoers in a relevant, contextual environment. The brand booked their Product Placement & Sponsorship activation into six premium hotel, Airbnb and restaurant locations. They provided samples of the Garnier Hydrabomb Tissue Mask, Garnier Hydrabomb Eye Mask and Garnier Skinactive Micellar Cleansing Water for consumers to feel refreshed and rejuvenated after their fun-filled day of festivities. Staff at each space placed the samples on the countertops or in bathrooms of hotels/Airbnb’s for guests to enjoy during their stay. They also launched these products at a premium bar and restaurant in Sydney, The Bucket List, who hosted a special Melbourne Cup event with hundreds of attendees watching the race. Along with the samples, marketing materials encouraged consumers to find the brand online where they could enjoy a special Spring Carnival offer. The activation was a huge success. For a cost-per-reach of just $0.43, Garnier reached more than 13,000 potential customers, building brand awareness and driving interest for the in-store product. Feedback from both consumers and the Host businesses has been overwhelmingly positive. The campaign also gave the brand invaluable feedback directly from consumers, with each sampling location providing a detailed Activation Report complete with plenty of fun images for use on social media.

Sparkling wine in a can

Sonder Wine Co is a US brand already well known for its innovative wine-in-a-can products. The brand were now looking to introduce two new sparkling wine products to the Australian market: Sparkling Pinot Gris and Sparkling Rose. These new sparkling wine products presented a gap in the market for Sonder, with nothing really like it on the shelves in Australia. The brand wanted to take advantage of this point of difference and create awareness for the product, driving purchase through their chosen retailer, BoozeBud. They also wanted to gain insight into the consumer reaction to their product to help inform marketing strategies. Sonder set out to create a sampling campaign that would get full-sized versions of their sparking cans of wine into the hands of their target market: young social holidaymakers and creative co-workers. They used Brandcrush to book activation spaces in a number of accommodation spots during the popular Christmas and New Years Eve period to engage with revellers. They also provided samples of their product to co-working spaces as a freebie to give out on Friday night drinks, engaging the brand with a fun social event. In total, 18 co-working spaces and five popular accommodation sites in NSW and QLD participated in the sampling campaign. Along with the product, guests were given brand and product info via a flyer. Those sampling the wine were encouraged to share their feedback online via a QR code, with a competition element included, incentivizing response.
