Renowned Aussie women’s activewear brand, Lorna Jane empowers women to live a life through Active Living™ and the daily practice of Move, Nourish, Believe. It’s activewear that’s designed to transform the way people think, and more importantly, how they feel about being active.

Already boasting a strong community of loyal brand followers, Lorna Jane was looking for a way to reach new consumers while deepening their engagement with their existing community through giveaways, exclusive offers and sales.

The brand used Brandcrush to book a roadshow of pop-ups across Victoria, bringing their brand to life in four locations: Mernda Junction Shopping Centre, Kingston Village Ocean Grove, Burwood One, and Sunbury Square Shopping Centre across the busy summer period.

These shopping centres not only offered a huge reach with their target audience of 20-to-45-year-old women, but also allowed the opportunity for the brand to bring in their own branded display booths and marketing collateral, activated by the Lorna Jane team themselves.

The pop-up roadshow was highly successful. Through the physical activations, Lorna Jane’s team were able to engage with more than 240,000 of their target consumer in the real world, sharing the brand’s vision, selling and sampling products, and encouraging return purchase through exclusive offers.

Experiential tactics offer an invaluable way to build genuine, real-world connections. By creating a chance to connect with people face-to-face, Lorna Jane’s team were able to share the ethos and values of their brand, inspiring women to join the Lorna Jane community.

A workout proof mascara? No sweat.

While CoverGirl may need little introduction in the cosmetics world, their latest product — Outlast Active Sweat & Smudge-proof Mascara — was targetting a specific user group that the brand needed to tap into: fit, health and wellness-oriented young women. Many people don’t know that CoverGirl products are cruelty-free. The brand knew that this would be an important factor to their target demographic, and wanted this message communicated through their product promotion. Through Brandcrush’s network of premium businesses, the brand booked a sampling campaign through a 36 health and wellness clubs, including Xtend Barre, Bodhi & Ride, and yoga studios across Australia. The activations were a huge success, with customers happy not only with the quality of the product but the fact that they were given a full-sized product to sample. By aligning with businesses that already had an established relationship with their target customers the brand was able to leverage trust and build a positive brand association.

Beauty, fashion and fun

Garnier, part of the international French cosmetics company, L’Oreal, is already known the world-over for their innovative skin and hair products. Looking to connect with their target market of young beauty lovers, the brand recognized a key opportunity to align with the fun and glamour of Melbourne’s iconic Spring Racing Carnival. Each year, the Spring Racing Carnival draws more than 100,000 people into Melbourne with a calendar of events, fashion, food and entertainment. Using Brandcrush’s innovative booking platform, Garnier was able to identify targetted accommodation and hospitality in and around the city through which they could offer a selection of their products to racegoers in a relevant, contextual environment. The brand booked their Product Placement & Sponsorship activation into six premium hotel, Airbnb and restaurant locations. They provided samples of the Garnier Hydrabomb Tissue Mask, Garnier Hydrabomb Eye Mask and Garnier Skinactive Micellar Cleansing Water for consumers to feel refreshed and rejuvenated after their fun-filled day of festivities. Staff at each space placed the samples on the countertops or in bathrooms of hotels/Airbnb’s for guests to enjoy during their stay. They also launched these products at a premium bar and restaurant in Sydney, The Bucket List, who hosted a special Melbourne Cup event with hundreds of attendees watching the race. Along with the samples, marketing materials encouraged consumers to find the brand online where they could enjoy a special Spring Carnival offer. The activation was a huge success. For a cost-per-reach of just $0.43, Garnier reached more than 13,000 potential customers, building brand awareness and driving interest for the in-store product. Feedback from both consumers and the Host businesses has been overwhelmingly positive. The campaign also gave the brand invaluable feedback directly from consumers, with each sampling location providing a detailed Activation Report complete with plenty of fun images for use on social media.

Medibank shopping mall pop-up

Medibank, one of Australia’s leading private health insurers, has more than 40 years experience delivering better health to Australians. They also provide a range of health services in Australia including mental health support, preventative and better-integrated primary care and after-hours health support. Insurance is a highly competitive industry, with dozens of big-name brands battling it out for consumer attention on TV and online. On the lookout for new ways to educate and enrol customers, Medibank recognized an opportunity to get off screens and connect with people in the real world via a branded pop-up. Through Brandcrush, Medibank booked a two-day pop-up activation in busy Sunbury Square Shopping Centre. They set-up a vibrant display with table, bright red decorations and a balloon tree to capture the attention of shoppers as they went about their business. The brand also offered free gifts to entice consumers. The pop-up activation was a great success, connecting Medibank with 40,000 people for just $0.009 per reach. With the Medibank team on-site to run the activation, customers had the opportunity to speak with the brand face-to-face, ask questions, and get personalised, specific information. This not only led to great brand awareness and education but generated significant on-the-spot sign-ups.
