Everyone was really pleased to receive something from a brand they, for the most part, knew. It paired well with both our products and customer base.

Williamstown Fine Wines

Brand recognition among our Australian customers was very high, and many expressed that they knew Pana Chocolates but had not yet tried the Ganache, so it was great to be able to introduce them to this new product. Everybody loved the natural ingredients and no added sugars. This actually changed the minds of some customers who initially didn't want to try the chocolate, so that was a real win there.

Pana Organic is a luxury chocolate brand founded in Melbourne. Already somewhat of a legend amongst “healthy” chocolate fans, Pana Organic offers vegan chocolate that’s full of antioxidants, amino acids, vitamins and minerals, is without preservatives, soy or gluten, and is refined sugar-free.

Now, the brand had a new product available for purchase through independent grocers nationwide — Pana Organic Ganache, in three great flavours: Dark Maple Chocolate, Orange Pistachio & Quinoa, and Raspberry & Almond.

Looking for a clever way to reach their target consumer, Pana Organic saw an opportunity to connect their decadent delight with another popular treat: wine. Through Brandcrush, they were able to develop a campaign that had their chocolates paired with wine and sampled by wine lovers, hosted by premium bottle shops across Victoria.

Tapping into Brandcrush’s established network of premium businesses, Pana Organic booked their gift sampling activation into four unique bottle shop locations. Their key objectives were to build brand awareness and drive interest in their exclusive new chocolate range.

The Ganache samples and online vouchers were placed on the countertops of the bottle shops and gifted with each purchase for customers to enjoy. Staff at each space actively gave out a full-sized sample of the Ganache, and also set up self-serve tasting product displays accompanied by a strut card and 15% off online voucher that the brand had provided.

The activation was a huge success. For a cost-per-reach of just $0.73, Pana Organic reached more than 1,450 potential new customers, all of whom loved the fun concept of pairing a delicious chocolate sample with their wine. The campaign also gave the brand invaluable feedback directly from consumers, with each sampling location providing a detailed Activation Report complete with plenty of fun images for use on social media.

Achieving intimacy and engagement, at scale

Picky Picky Peanuts (owned by Bega Cheese) wanted to raise awareness and gain valuable feedback on three product flavours from their target audience of 18-29-year-old men. They used Brandcrush to find and connect with businesses that offered direct access to this consumer group, booking in sampling activations with 16 Barber and Bottle Shop spaces in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, including Jimmy Rods, Men's Biz and Bottle House. Over a week-long campaign period, Activation Partners at these locations distributed a total of 22,600 samples to their customers as a gift with purchase. By sampling in spaces already aligned with their target market, Picky Picky Peanuts were able to connect with consumers in a way that was meaningful to their product: in a relaxed environment, served alongside a nice cold beer. This is product sampling the way it should be — intimate, relevant and effective, with the added bonus of 40+ Instagram-worthy images that Picky Picky Peanuts were able to share on their social accounts.

A workout proof mascara? No sweat.

While CoverGirl may need little introduction in the cosmetics world, their latest product — Outlast Active Sweat & Smudge-proof Mascara — was targetting a specific user group that the brand needed to tap into: fit, health and wellness-oriented young women. Many people don’t know that CoverGirl products are cruelty-free. The brand knew that this would be an important factor to their target demographic, and wanted this message communicated through their product promotion. Through Brandcrush’s network of premium businesses, the brand booked a sampling campaign through a 36 health and wellness clubs, including Xtend Barre, Bodhi & Ride, and yoga studios across Australia. The activations were a huge success, with customers happy not only with the quality of the product but the fact that they were given a full-sized product to sample. By aligning with businesses that already had an established relationship with their target customers the brand was able to leverage trust and build a positive brand association.

Keeping bright minds and busy workers fuelled

Mr Lee’s Noodles, proudly founded by Damien Lee, are already known the world over for their delicious Vietnamese noodles. Unlike most other cup noodles, their ingredients are freeze-dried, not dehydrated. This locks in more of the flavour, nutrients and vitamins. They’re also gluten-free, msg-free and the Zen Garden Vegetable flavour is vegan — appealing to a growing number of consumers eating “free-from” diets. Available in two great flavours — Hong Kong Street Beef and Zen Garden Vegetables — Mr Lee’s were excited to now offer their healthier cup-of-noodles to Australian consumers through Harris Farm Markets, Woolworths, Amazon and their own website. To drive brand awareness and encourage consumers to try this new product, the brand needed a sampling campaign that would put them front and centre with their target audience of time-poor, modern workers and their families. Mr Lee’s identified that bringing their brand and product samples into co-working spaces would be an effective way to connect with their audience. Through Brandcrush, they were able to easily find and book their gift-sampling campaign into 25 unique co-working locations in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane. Over several days, the staff at each space actively gave out full-sized sample cup of Mr Lee’s Noodles to hungry, curious members, and self-serve product displays were set up with a strut card and flyers offering a limited time discount on purchasing the noodles from Woolworths. Members at the co-work spaces were encouraged to take a cup of Mr Lee’s Noodles home for their friends and family to try, too. The activation was a huge success. For a cost-per-reach of just $0.36, Mr Lee’s reached more than 20,000 potential new customers, building brand awareness and driving interest for the product. The campaign also gave the brand invaluable feedback directly from consumers, with each sampling location providing a detailed Activation Report complete with plenty of fun images for use on social media.
